The crew arrived as scheduled and set-up there equipment including tarps to protect rugs and items around the attic and sub-floor. Overall took around 4 hrs to address issues in attic, outside frame work and sub area under the house. Also had a angies list coupon, which they honored saving us approx. $200.00 dollars on service. The 2guys where very professional focused on their task and completed in a timely manner.

Customer Comments

Over all very pleased with their service and professionalism - great job!

Description Of Work

We used Planet Orange few years ago for termite control.

Customer Comments

I did not dislike anything about them. They were good. They were nice, polite, and professional. We did not go with them. I think they were fine.

Description Of Work

Planet Orange did some termite exterminating work.

Customer Comments

I got them from Angies List and they had excellent reports. I had spotted a little dust that termites leave and was really alarmed because I had on bought this apartment building about a year ago. I had got the inspection report and everything was fine, but obviously they had missed it, and I was quite concerned. I liked the way they handled it. They came in and explained how they do everything and it is different from the typical termite companies. They fixed it and I have not had any problems with termites. They use very clever technology.

Description Of Work

I use Planet Orange for pest control.

Customer Comments

I am completely satisfied with them and I have been using them for close to 3 years. They have taken care of the termites and took the O & D out. This month they have come for the 3rd year to check and make sure everything is fine. I have also taken an extended warranty to extend after this third year for two more years. I have not seen any earthworms or anything since I got them involved. They were natural. I had a really bad farm and it's worked. They are coming out this month. I have a five year warranty on beetles and a three year warranty on termites and they called to check if I wanted to extend the termite warranty with the other. They will come out this month. They go down under the house and up in the attic and they make sure its okay. They have also marked where there were problems so that they would have a line to check to see if it's extended. It's a free service if you take the warranty and they just come out. If you have a problem in between they come out for free. They are well worth it. I would recommend them.

Description Of Work

The free inspection is worth just what you paid for it - nothing.

Customer Comments

They arrived promptly and started the inspection. They walked around the boundaries of the property and made a few notes. We have not one but two crawl spaces under the house. The inspector stuck his head into the crawl space, shined his flashlight and that was all for the crawl spaces. He made a few notes. He never looked at the second crawl space even when reminded. His "map" of the crawl space was not at all accurate and the "termite" locations he could have never seen! In the attic he immediately started talking about an insulation replacement. While the insulation is certainly dusty, there seemed to be no need to replace the insulation. I have no idea how he could have decided there were termites in the attic. They wanted a total of $6,000 for termites and insulation replacement. They have no evidence of actual termites, no reason to replace attic insulation. I spent a few weekends and $500 to lay another layer of insulation in the attic. The saving in heating will pay for this in no time. I'm getting someone else for termites.

Description Of Work

They came for the termite inspection, did the work, and left. Very professional. The only comment I have is that we were glad it was good weather as it did smell like orange oil, so we aired out the house for 24 hours.

Description Of Work

The termite inspector came to inspect our home & deck. He did a thorough job with inspections and also inspected for rodents even though the company "does not inspect for rodents".

Customer Comments

After the inspector left, I tried to follow up with an account manager, Carissa Bonsilao, regarding the quote for rodent treatments since that was our problem. She was difficult to get a hold of (I left 2 voice mails, which she didn't return calls) and it was only when I complained to another manager that she finally answered her phone. She was short on the phone and they only had plans for extermination, not for exclusion of rodents, which is useless - if you don't block where/how the rodents are entering your home, you'll never get rid of it! When I asked her about it, she just hung up on me! Another account manager followed up a week later with a termite prevention plan quote, which was useless because we don't have termites in our home! The company seems really disconnected with the inspectors and account managers. The inspector was great but the account managers, not so much.

I used Planet Orange to do wood termites that were in the roof and subterraneans that were down in the ground.

One time ant elimination with 30 day guarantee

Customer Comments

After moving into our new home in the fall of 2010 we've started a fierce fight with the old inhabitants - several families of Argentine ants that seemed to infest all outside yard areas and with the winter rains, started to attempt a foothold into the insides. I had initially gone into the intensive UC Davis IPM (Integrated Pest Management) suggestions of caulking, boric ant baits, and other less "toxic" solutions as my wife is pregnant (and retail pesticides give me a headache). However finally my wife got irate enough that she said ENOUGH. GET THE ANTS OUT. After doing a search on Angies List I came across planet orange. I was hoping they could use their Orange Oil ("organic") against the ants, but they are more effective against termites. Carissa at Planet Orange explained to me that it was unlikely that the treatment would be effective. She said the pest person would explain both organic toxins and non-organic toxins to me and let me choose when they came out. Planet Orange got a pest exterminator out on the weekend after the call and the exterminator took a peek at the situation and gave his recommendation. Basically it came down to two treatments: 1) Termidor sprayed on outside of house 2) Inside baiting with Dupont's Advion (Indoxacarb) I did my research, saw that the LD50 (Lethal Dose 50%) and environmental downstream impacts seemed to be acceptable and OK'ed the job. Other reviews suggest that PlanetOrange is very pushy on the annual contract, but I didn't find that to be the case. My cost details the $300 one time with 30 day warranty rate. By the way, I did have them come out again as we found ants after their treatment. For their second followup they used an organic solution of peppermint/clove oil. This treatment so far has held but I'm definitely making sure as my 30 day guarantee runs out. You do have the option on day 29 to get credit towards a one year contract. If I don't update this post then that means I let the 30 day lapse

Description Of Work

I used the services of Planet Orange for pest control and exterminating. They did a termite inspection and one phase of treatment last year around Thanksgiving Day. They treated some kind of fungus that was on the attic and in the basement.

Customer Comments

The people who performed the task were pretty professional and did a good job. Their office seemed a little chaotic, but they were pretty nice. It's just that they are not as good as I would like them to be. They used a natural solution instead of chemicals and that was attractive to me. I want it to work, but it's hard to know. You also need to give it some time, but the natural solution seems to be very attractive. The price was decent and it was not very cheap. Their performance was good. I would use their services in the future too.

B.W. in Castro Valley

Description Of Work

Review is for estimate only. While guy was friendly and informative, the information in the binder he provided was presented in a very elementary school manner, it was almost insulting. The orange vs. standard method of removing termites also sounded too black and white, and made me suspicious, it can't be *that* simple. The guy was pretty pushy, using the "pay now while its cheap" tactic on me.

Customer Comments

Finally, after saying no several times, guy has nerve to tell me a sob story about his family. Not. Professional. Also the other reviewer was right, they were pushy. After telling the estimator I don't want to be contacted, I was later contacted by email, then by phone. Immediately recognizing the problem, I had to tell them very directly on the phone, not to contact anymore. They stopped. Thanks Planet Orange, though everything sounded simple and easy, I decided to go with another company.

Description Of Work

They found a rafter that had signs of infestation and treated it with orange oil. They also did preventative treatment with Timbor in the subarea and attic.

K.S. in San Jose

Description Of Work

Planet Orange provided an inspection within the week I requested and offered services two days later. The inspection was thorough both under the house and in the attic. I had evidence of both subterranean and dry wood termites of which I was aware from previous inspections and visible signs this past spring. Two men arrived at noon on the service date and treated the attic first. Each one had to be relieved every 30 minutes by the other as the attic was extremely hot and they were heavily clothed and using respirators. Eventually a third man took over as well. With attic treatment of Orange oil and perimeter treatment the whole service took 5 hours. Treatment consisted of XT-2000 Insecticide Plus, Termidor SC, Tim-bor.

Customer Comments

The technicians were very informative and courteous even after being in the attic for some time. I had asked for an early morning appointment to have them in a cooler condition, but that was discounted by the sales/account manager. After talking with the technicians I understand that their early morning appointment was quite simple compared to mine and it would have seemed more appropriate to schedule the hotter attic service for first thing in the morning. Although perimeter treatment did not include across the driveway, treatment took place under the house in specific places I've had subterranean termite activity. The attic treatment appeared to be thorough and extensive as several hours were spent there in the sweltering heat. The only irritant with the company was trying to communicate with the account/sales manager. He never responded to my two emails and one voice message. Other office staff were very helpful and courteous. I will not know if any of the treatment works until the one and two year inspections provided with the service are completed. But the house smelled like oranges for several days after treatment. Quite nice actually.

L.W. in El Cerrito

Description Of Work

A salesperson from the company came to give me an inspection and report with an estimate for the work. Since we have subterranean termites, the orange oil isn't a solution for us.

Customer Comments

We didn't use this company because: They were trying to sell us a long term contract, but weren't offering to guarantee the work. When we didn't respond right away after getting the report, the sales force really went to town. Every number we gave them got multiple calls and pressure; every day I got another email. If they spent half the money on their service that they spend on ads and sales, I'd have been more impressed. The long term contract isn't recommended by other companies as the consumer pays more up front, and it's unclear what kind of service will be available from the company years down the road.

Description Of Work

We'd found subterranean termites in our dining room floor. Planet Orange came in, did an extensive survey of the property, and gave us a believable and helpful report. They then returned and did peripheral termite control around the foundation.

I am very happy with them. They did outstanding work. They were very quick and efficient. There was minimal inconvenience. Their work was guaranteed. We had also had problems with ants earlier. Description Of Work

Planet Orange gave us an estimate on pest control.

Customer Comments

Their bid was the highest and had the most limitations. We didn't think their service would solve the issue we had. They were knowledgeable in their particular type of service, they didn't expand upon the trade off between that and the conventional stuff. They were punctual and the interaction was fine. We probably won't be using them in the future because the technology has limitations.

A.S. in San Jose

Description Of Work

Planet Orange gave me an estimate for regular pest control.

Customer Comments

I didn't have them do any work. The estimate was not accurate because they did not list everything accurately. What they told me while they were here was not the same was what was on the quote. They were responsive and professional.

E.I. in Sunnyvale

Description Of Work

Termite inspection, treatment review and recommendations. Subterranean termite and drywall termite treatment, and preventative coating treatment in attic.

Customer Comments

Planet Orange first sent out an inspector who did a thorough job (better than a previous inspector from a different company). The inspector determined there were both subterranean and drywall termites and recommended treatment strategies, including preventative treatment of exposed wood. Planet Orange performed the recommended work. They did have to drill a lot of holes in concrete and in an interior wall, which were patched up. The entire crew was very professional.

Description Of Work

Sprayed orange spray for termites in master bathroom. Drilled holes around house and also treated for subterranean termites.

Customer Comments

Planet Orange came to my home two days after I contacted them. They were extremely polite and helpful and very friendly. They looked at the problem and set up a time two days later to come and do the work. They showed up on time and were always very easy to work with. They communicated well and had a good understanding of my needs. We found more live termites as we tore apart the bathroom and they came within 2 days to exterminate, making good on their warranty. When I got the bill, I did notice that my warranty was only 2 years when they had given me a verbal 4 year warranty, so I will call them to correct this.

J.O. in San Jose

Description Of Work

Planet Orange treated my house for an active termite infestation with Orange Oil for the drywood termites, Termidor for the Subterrain's and sprayed the attic with Tim-bor as a preventative. Our house is approximately 2500 sq ft

Customer Comments

There was a free inspection, Tim was the inspector, he was very thourogh inspecting outside, inside, under the house and the attic. There was an assumption on his part that we were going to sign them up for the work that was a little offputting, and I felt the pricing was a little bit of lets make a deal, I probably could have negotiated a lower price but was too enthused with the prospect of not having to tent as the others wanted to do. The crew showed up when they said they would, were professional in their work and cleaned up as expected. The one thing I did not like was they needed to use my wife's car to jump start their truck when the battery went dead-Keep your equipment serviced guys. They offered a 2 year warranty and will do a re-inspection for free in a year. You can also opt to keep up a service contract like warranty if you wish past the 2 year mark. Good experience, would call them again.

Description Of Work

Bobby Malone came to do the inspection. He called twice to say he was running late. When He arrived he asked several questions. When he went under our house and returned he ask" did you put anything toxic under your house?" I said yes, we had a plumbing leak and it was recommmed we lay lime to prevent any mold build up. Immediately he said " that's a toxic material and the MRSA should have told you. I cannot go under there to inspect the area because of the toxicity according the the MRSA. And whomever sold this should have told you of the hazard". He asked to see the package of lime, by this time my husband came out and asked what the issue was. And the Bobby said he couldn't continue the inspection and that the lime would need to be removed by a Biohazard Material person . My husband said to him that this was overblown. Bobby was adamant " that according the MRSA on this lime package which I am not going touch is toxic." I was floored at his comments. Here he blew off my husband with the MRSA and then proceeded to scare us about the lime and then lectured us how it was a hazard so great that we needed a Biohazard person. I told Bobby he needed a lesson in customer service because he just lost a customer with his indignant attitude and drama. And that he alienated my husband whom he didn't know is a commerical HVAC person and myself a medical perfessional who works in a medical center with MRSA standards all the time. After he left, on the following Monday I called the number he gave me of a Biohazard company in the East Bay and the person, who is the owner said, " I'm really sorry this person made a alegation that is incorrect about lime and furthermore, it's really a laughing matter he would recommend us. I suggest you get someone who can wear a proper ventiation mask and have him sweep it up. Save yourself some money and have a good laugh on me. And with the extra money don't bother with Planet Orange go to someone who knows what their talking about."'

Customer Comments

see the above commentary. They also, continued to call me day after day after day offering me other services. No where in the report did they say about the "lime" or the incomplete inspection because of this.

Description Of Work

We used Planet Orange to fumigate our house for termites. They used local orange oil treatments in three locations in our house.

Customer Comments

They were professional and did an inspection first. They seemed to know their stuff and explained what they were going to do. They used some equipment to try to figure out where the infestation was and they poked holes and injected the orange oil. It is more environmentally friendly and you can be there. There was a good warranty for the areas they treated and the whole house for future infestation for two years from the date of treatment. They come every year for an inspection. We knew we wanted to use orange oil and we'll see if it works. We don't know if it will be a long-lasting treatment for termites and tenting wasn't an option for us because we live in a townhouse. I think they were late for the initial appointment, but they were pretty punctual.

J.S. in Santa Clara

Description Of Work

Planet Orange came and inspected our property and found areas of termite activity. We have used Terminix twice in the past once for a chemical treatment and once for a heat treatment and both times the termites returned. Tenting is not an option for us as we live in a townhouse andre are physically connected to 5 other units and getting everyone to agree to tent is impossible. Planet Orange did a much more thorough inspection than Terminix. Terminix charged us much more for much less. For example, they only provided a 1 year guarantee for the specific areas treated. If they treat one hole it is $1000 and $500 for each hole after that which can get pricey. Planet Orange gave us a cheaper price at a flat rate and a 2 year warranty that covers the entire house not just the areas treated. I can also keep extending this warranty for about $300 a year beyond the initial two years. The warranty then in essence becomes a maintenance plan. Planet Orange uses a concentrated form of orange oil that is spayed into the wood inside your walls and wicks itself into the wood. This oils kill termites on contact, suffocates them and continues to kill new termites that re-infest and eat the oil laden wood. They use a scope and camera to really see where they are spraying. What is nice is that this oil is natural and is processed from orange peels. It is a safe for kids and pets and will even make your house smell like oranges for a few weeks. I paid a bit extra to get the crawl space in the ceiling treated with a preventative chemical, otherwise my price would have been less than $2000 and more like $$1500.

Customer Comments

It went great. I am going to use them again for a black widow problem I have in my back yard.

The technician arrived promptly at the beginning of the time window provided, he quickly assessed my needs ....... thankfully determining that I did NOT have a roach problem..... and explained the natural products used . He treated the perimeter of the house very quickly (which smelled fresh and minty) and was on his way within 20 minutes.

Description Of Work

I used them to get a termite treatment done in my house. They sprayed and got under the house to scoop out all the termite tubes.

Customer Comments

They were on time, matter of fact a little early. They were very polite and very professional. They had a good sense of humor. They answered all my questions. They followed up on their work and called me back to check if everything was okay. I can’t see any termites anyway and so I suspect they are gone. They will be here a year from when the worked was done to inspect again and if there are any termites they will take care of it free of cost, which I think is a neat idea.

I had termite control by Orange X Termites.

Customer Comments

I had termites and we were advised to fumigate the house. I didn t want to do that and looked for an alternative. I saw their advertisement and called them. It was a one time payment. The treated the places where they could see termites and gave a 3 years warranty for the whole house. They would come back and treat if the termites appeared anywhere. Their treatment works and is totally non invasive. The orange oil smell is very good. They came when they said they would and did an inspection. Their estimate was clear. They were prompt, thorough and pleasant people.
